Sliding doors fail in a small number of predictable ways, and they fail in a particular order. Rollers wear, the sill gets cut, the panel drops, the lock stops reaching its keeper.
That sequence is why we would rather look at the whole door than quote a single part over the phone. Fixing one link while the next one is already failing is how people end up paying twice.
Worn rollers are the starting point in most cases. A seized wheel skids instead of rolling, and a skidding steel wheel cuts a groove into a soft aluminium sill within months.
Once that groove exists, new rollers drop into it and wear out early, which is why roller replacement on a chewed sill is a false economy. That is the point at which track repair stops being optional.
Meanwhile the panel has been sitting lower and lower. The mortise hook engages the keeper by only a few millimetres, so a small drop is enough to stop the door locking, and that arrives as a lock problem that is really an alignment problem.
We do not sell replacement doors as the answer to worn parts. If your frame and glass are sound, a repair is the correct call, and we will say so even when it is the smaller job.
We also will not fit new rollers to a destroyed sill and call it finished. If the track needs capping we will tell you before we start, with a range, rather than after.
