That narrowness is deliberate. A door that has been dragging for two years has a specific chain of damage running through it, and reading that chain correctly is the difference between a repair that lasts and one that comes back.
How We Work
We look at the whole door before quoting a part. Rollers, sill condition, panel square, lock engagement and weatherstrip all interact, and quoting one of them in isolation over the phone usually gets it wrong.
You get a range before work starts, not an invoice afterwards. If we find something on removal that changes the number, we stop and tell you.
We will also tell you when a repair is not the right answer. A frame corroded through at the sill is not something to cap and hope, and we would rather lose that job than do it badly.
What We Will Not Do
- Quote a replacement door when the frame and glass are sound.
- Fit new rollers into a grooved sill without telling you they will wear out early.
- Put non-rated glass into an impact-rated door without flagging what that removes.
- Wind the roller adjusters to their limit, call the door aligned, and leave.
Why Sliding Doors Are Harder Here
Stuart sits where the St. Lucie River meets the Indian River Lagoon, with the Atlantic a few miles east through the St. Lucie Inlet. Salt reaches doors well inland, and it attacks roller bearings long before anything shows on the frame.
Sand does the mechanical damage. It packs into the sill and acts as a cutting compound between wheel and track, which is why the single most valuable thing a homeowner can do is keep the track clean.
Humidity keeps both processes running. The practical consequence is that a neglected door here fails years earlier than the same door inland, and a maintained one lasts about as long as it should.
